SIL Series – Safe storage, efficient filtration, modular construction

SIL storage silos, manufactured by SA NU VENT, are designed for collecting, filtering, and storing powdery materials from industrial processes.
These units are designed to meet a variety of requirements – from material storage to waste recovery and air filtration loaded with dust – while providing maximum safety, durability, and modular flexibility.

Through their construction, SIL silos significantly reduce pollutant emissions into the atmosphere, in accordance with environmental regulations in force, and allow material recovery for reuse or energy recovery.

Construction and general characteristics

The silos are made of painted black sheet metal or galvanized sheet metal, depending on the application, providing high mechanical resistance and corrosion protection.
The construction is modular and fully demountable, allowing the expansion of the storage volume and rapid replacement of any component.

The standard diameter of the silo is 2800 mm, and the height is adapted according to the required volume (from 25 m³ upwards).

The structure is divided into three functional areas:

🔹 1. Lower part – Unloading area

Equipped with a system for controlled material discharge, configurable according to the type of application:

  • Mechanical agitator – to maintain material fluidity and prevent bridging;
  • Discharge screw (helical conveyor) – for controlled transport to the next process;
  • Rotary airlock feeder – for flow regulation and sealing of the air circuit.

🔹 2. Intermediate part – Storage area

  • Made of central rings of metal panels, with adjustable volume according to production needs;
  • Storage capacity: from 25 m³, modularly expandable;
  • Allows connection to pneumatic conveying systems for automatic feeding.

🔹 3. Upper part – Filtration chamber

  • Equipped with an optional spark detector and fire protection system for plant protection.
  • Integrates the filter unit with cotton or polyester sleeves;
  • Mechanical cleaning system with vibrator motor, which ensures periodic shaking of the filters and maintains filtration efficiency;
Operating principle

The material is introduced into the silo through the upper orifice, usually through a pneumatic conveying system.
During loading, large particles fall gravitationally into the storage area, while the air loaded with dust is directed to the filtration chamber.
Here, the filter sleeves retain the fine particles, and the clean air is discharged into the atmosphere, respecting the legal emission limits.
The mechanical shaking system cleans the filters periodically, ensuring continuous operation and preventing clogging.

In the lower part, the agitator, screw and/or airlock ensure uniform discharge of the material to packaging, combustion, or subsequent transport processes.


Safety and maintenance

SIL Series silos are equipped with:

  • Integrated fire protection system (with spark sensors and automatic actuation);
  • Fully sealed structure, which prevents material loss and environmental contamination;
  • Filter regeneration system by shaking, which extends the life of the sleeves;
  • Interchangeable components, easy to replace without welding;
  • Simple maintenance and quick installation, without welding work on site.
Installation and applications

SIL silos are mounted outside the halls, being connected to the suction and transport installations through rigid metal pipes (made of galvanized sheet metal).
Can be connected to:

  • Grinding and polishing tables
  • Mobile suction arms
  • Suction cups
  • Machine tools and production lines

The filtered air is discharged into the atmosphere in accordance with European standards on industrial emissions.
